    A Day in the Life

Neighbour to Neighbour Centre has 100 volunteers that ensure 1,000 families on the Hamilton Mountain and surrounding areas receive food from our foodbank each.

When food donations arrive at our centre volunteers receive it in the warehouse. Volunteers weigh it, sort it,  and stack it in the warehouse.

From the warehouse it is shelved in our unique food bank grocery store. Our foodbank is set up to foster dignity and mutual respect as is also reflected in our Mission, Vision and Values.

Clients are allotted points as a monetary value based on the size of their family and are able to shop for themselves and their families. A person in need of our services will come in once a month , during our hours of operation.
On a clients first visit they will visit a Resource Counsellor who will ensure that they are linked to all community resources that are able to help them on their path to self sufficiency.
After clients have checked in it is time for them to shop. A Foodbank Volunteer will help the client to shop and tell them of any special items we may have that day. When they have used up all their points they will go to the check out and will leave our centre with 3 – 5 days of food.
